Car insurance for teen drivers may cost up to twice as much as an older adult driver. This can have a heavy impact on a family’s expenses by sometimes doubling the bills. The reasons for this discrepancy are obvious.
Auto insurance companies spend less money on older more responsible drivers. This is because these adult drivers are less likely to be involved in an accident which saves the insurance company money. Younger drivers are less experienced and are proven to cause more accidents. Statistics show that teen drivers are significantly larger liabilities to insure.
Here are some tips for teen drivers to avoid high insurance rates. Earn high grades in school, complete a defensive driving course or traffic school, become the primary driver on your family’s oldest or cheapest car. A teen driver’s auto insurance rates will definitely be lower if they drive a small cheap car with high safety ratings. It is always a good idea to shop around for the lowest rates.

Passenger Restrictions for Teen Drivers
Most people are aware of popular statistics such as: car accidents are the number one cause of death for children eighteen and under. More than half of these automobile related deaths occur when a teen driver is behind the wheel. Most passenger fatalities happen when they are not wearing a seat belt and moving at forty-five miles per hour or faster.
Parents should be advised to keep their kids from catching a ride with a teen driver with less than a year experience. You can’t stress it enough to kids today that seat belts save lives and they should be worn at all times while riding in a car.
Utah has taken action to prevent teen driving fatalities. In the state of Utah it is against the law for new teen drivers to carry any passengers who are not immediate family during the first six months of driving. Most supporters believe this is a small step but in the right direction. The carefree mindset of a teen driver often gets them into dangerous situations but now laws are being made to prevent these tragedies.

Learn to Drive Online
Most people in the U.S. learn to drive at the age of fifteen or sixteen through standardized driver education classes. These training courses are offered to people of all ages but are usually targeted towards high school students. Local school districts sometimes provide drivers ed as an after-school program. Older people seeking driver education are left with fewer options.
Effective driving education courses are critical to the safety of public roads and highways. Everyone should have an equal opportunity to learn the rules of the road. Today, it is easier than ever to find adequate resources because of online drivers’ education. Online classes are available to help anyone learn to drive from the comfort of their home.
Online driver education courses are just as informative as traditional classroom courses if not better. Courses taught by live instructors are subject to the individual’s teaching ability. Online driver ed courses allow the student to learn at their own pace and on their schedule. Online courses also take advantage of new technologies by using streaming videos, graphics and flash animations. These tools allow students to visualize highway scenarios and safe driving practices.
Teenagers are more likely to participate in online driver education because the Internet is familiar to them and they feel comfortable in this digital environment. Physical classroom courses do not provide enough personal attention for students. Online drivers ed courses are focused toward each individual student and their needs and learning tendencies. Drivers education online is the best way to fully prepare for real life driving situations. Not only are online classes more convenient but more current with up-to-date information on new regulations and practices.
